I’ve been taking photos ever since I got my first cell phone in middle school (it was a flip phone). The pictures I took were awful, but I fell in love with the process and creative freedom of taking them. I finally purchased a real camera my sophomore year of high school, and it was one of the best investments of my life.

The camera I got was the Nikon D7000. I knew at the time that Canon and Sony cameras were quickly overtaking Nikon in terms of popularity and quality, but from my research I felt this camera was the best fit for me. It’s an older model (released in 2010), but it equipped with many of the features that newer and better cameras have. It is the perfect balance between a camera for beginners and a camera that professionals can use to take high quality photos. (It’s relatively affordable as well).

From my experience I’d say the camera is more geared towards landscape and portrait photography, but with the right lens I wouldn’t doubt it’s capabilities with macro or sports photography either.

If anyone is looking to buy a camera, I’d highly recommend looking into this one!
